A few years back while I was in still living in New York, I was doing the design gig for a while. While it was exciting to work with small businesses to get their marketing materials to the same level as corporate companies, I became frustrated with it because a lot of people wanted to put too much information and pictures on their business cards and other designs. I have always loved the simplicity of things. I ran a company back then and called it Gsting. I collaborated with other artists to create some cool stuff for these small businesses. I even created a blog for it which is still live and you can check it out here.
When I moved to California in 2012, I decided to leave the design world behind, at least on my own time, and focus on my comic art more. Because of this, I needed something to represent my new venture. I've always favored having a brand to represent me and so I decided to use a piece of my old company logo and evolve it.
What does the new "HARO" logo mean?
It is my expression, hence the speech bubble. It is my way of telling the world: "This is me." The name "Haro" is what my mom used to call me because she couldn't pronounce my English name correctly. It is my symbol and reminder to focus on my art and expand my learning in it.
I hope you will be able to follow my adventure into the comic art world and learn with me.
